On June 12, 2023, he was killed during assault operations in the village of Velyka Novosilka after stepping on mines. Buried in Kyiv at Lukianivske Cemetery
His family sadly reflects on the fact that Valerii’s grandchildren will never again feel his care and support. In photographs and videos from his past life, he is always kind and bright. This is how he will remain in the memories of relatives and friends. His brothers-in-arms recall that Valerii Yuriiovych strongly supported all of his soldiers, and to this day they speak with gratitude about their genuine and humane commander. Valerii Tsolan gave his life for our independent future, and the memory of him will forever remain in the hearts of his family, colleagues, and everyone who knew, loved, and respected him
