On December 2, 2022, his unit arrived in Bakhmut and immediately entered heavy fighting. He personally evacuated the wounded and continuously held positions under constant assaults.
On December 23, during a large-scale attack, he refused to retreat: «I will not abandon my boys.» He was killed during an artillery strike, remaining with his unit until the very end
